Life and death supply chains: a hard lesson to learn and a vision for the years ahead at Supply Chain Futures 2007
Supply Chain Futures 2007 is the UK’s most innovative forum for senior Supply Chain executives, taking place this year on 22nd February at the Russell Hotel in London
London, UK – Over 150 senior Supply Chain Executives from large and fast growing UK organisations will be attending the inaugural Supply Chain Futures forum on 22nd February 2007, to hear what lies ahead for the Supply Chain profession and learn about the fatal consequences that a supply chain failure can bring.
Supported by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), Supply Chain Futures 2007 will be chaired by Professor Alan Waller OBE, President of CILT (UK) & Chairman of ELUPEG and will comprise an intensive programme of inspirational keynotes, focused debates and interactive workshops on specific themes, plus a special lunch and post-event drinks reception.
The day will kick off with a thought-provoking session on "Life & Death Supply Chains: when getting it wrong REALLY matters" presented by Colonel Tim Collins OBE, the British Army officer who resigned over the MoD's failure to get military supplies to the troops in the Middle East. As a recent inquest highlighted, delay and serious failings in the acquisition and support chain resulted in the significant shortage in army supply that led to Sergeant Steven Roberts’ death in Iraq in May 2003.
In a later session, Professor Richard Scase, one of the world's leading business forecasters and acclaimed author of over 20 books including “Britain 2010: The Changing Business Landscape”, will focus on the evolution of global supply chains and digital commerce over the next 10-20 years.
More food for thought will be provided at lunchtime by Professor Heinz Wolff, Scientist, Inventor and Broadcaster, sharing some unconventional wisdom on continuing to innovate in an increasingly risk-averse business environment, plus a series of highly topical workshops will encourage attendees to discuss pressing Supply Chain issues, stimulate creative resolutions and spark a host of new ideas.
To maximise interactivity and networking opportunities amongst participants, Supply Chain Futures will use a state-of-the-art wireless messaging and voting system. Each delegate will receive at registration a SpotMe device for contacting other delegates, arranging meetings and exchanging business cards throughout the day.
This year’s event has been facilitated by forward-thinking sponsors such as Ensign, Inova Management, Modcomp, OneSource and SMART.
Supply Chain Futures 2007 is due to take place at The Russell Hotel, London, on the 22nd of February 2007. Places at the event are offered completely free-of-charge to qualifying professionals. For more information please visit www.supplychain-futures.co.uk.
